I did prepare for the Last Duel, taking in the reviews and spoilers, knowing that my favorite and writing muse would credibly portrait a character I had no hope to redeem. I accepted how the story would end, knowing it was the right choice for the writers to make: the choice to believe Margot. Freed from expectations, I proceeded to accept what was placed before me... and it was a feast. I loved every part of this movie, even the bad hairdos. Every one brought their A-game. The actors most visibly, but also the costumes and the decors. The pacing, sometimes hectic, nonetheless allowed for some breathing.

The actors disappeared into their roles as they should. It took me a little while longer to forget Driver was on screen, but finally I stopped seeing _him_ and stopped resisting LeGris' villainy to let him tell the tale that needs to be told: of a class living with a total lack of remorse, or even conscience of the notion of consent. I hated LeGris.

And I hated Carrouges and D'Alencon, and quite a few other characters too.

But I loved every actor's performance.
